Magnetic Signature Measurement

The electromagnetic signature is important in the design of a military vessel. Detection of this signature, for example by radar or sea mines, may create a threat to safety of the vessel. Our range of sensors is used in magnetic signature measurement and management systems, from concept and design stages to onboard systems. The far field signature can be measured around the model, using Mag-13 or Mag690. Part of the testing facility may have active compensation coils, where the Mag-13 or Mag690 can be used as feedback sensor. The Mag-03RC, which is designed for operation via a long cable, is ideal for use in permanent magnetic signature ranges. It may also be deployed temporarily in a treatment facility (degaussing coils). An alternative sensor is the Mag-13MSS. Using a DAS1 for data collection provides a base to power multiple sensors and digitise their outputs. A portable signature measurement system can be deployed using the Mag-03RC or Mag-13. With the latest requirement for ease of deployment, the Mag-13 can be incorporated into a cable-like system, which can be used to measure magnetic signatures rapidly and without the need to access onshore facilities.
