Applications
Space is a challenging and unforgiving environment into which our fluxgate magnetometers venture. Our sensors are important to upcoming deep space missions, including spacecraft that will orbit Earth (MagQuest) and land on the Moon (Lunar Vertex). Supporting missions on the ground, our Helmholtz Coil systems ensure accurate calibration of relevant equipment.
Io-1 Mission
Bartington Instruments has designed and built Spacemag®-2 – a three-axis fluxgate magnetometer – for Iota Technology’s CubeSat Io-1 satellite, which is participating in MagQuest.
The project secured funding from the UK Space Agency’s International Bilateral Fund.
This mission launched into space on Monday 30 March 2026.
Lunar Vertex Mission
Our Mag566 sensors are heading to the Moon as part of the Lunar Vertex mission, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
Launch expected after Q3 2026.
