Remanent Field Monitoring in SRF Cavities
Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) cavities are used in accelerators to increase the speed of particles. They rely on the presence of the electromagnetic field inside to accelerate the particles.
The quality and effectiveness of SRF is related to the amount of magnetic field trapped at the surface during manufacture. For example, cooling the chambers too rapidly can cause stress within the chamber, which traps magnetic fields.
