UXO Detection and Disposal at Sea
Disposal of sea mines requires that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) divers have a low magnetic signature so that they do not trigger detonation of the ordnance. Manufacturers of specialist diving equipment can use a Spectramag-6 and Mag-13 to measure the magnetic hygiene of the equipment.
The Mag-13 can be integrated into simulated mines for training purposes. This provides divers with the opportunity to check their signatures in a real operation, and ensure that their methods are safe. The Mag648 and Mag649 are other options for these systems.
The same equipment may also be used to check the signature of autonomous vehicles or tools used in EOD disposal, with the Spectramag-6 data acquisition unit an option to create a complete survey system (Mag-13 only).
For UXO (UneXploded Ordnance) detection at sea, we recommend our Grad-13 three-axis marine gradiometers. A typical system includes gradiometers in a vertical position at the front of the vehicle, usually in an array. Alternative sensors, Mag-13, Mag648 or Mag649, can be used for detection work. In this case, some correction of the sensor’s output may be recommended to obtain total field data. Related Products
